The highly anticipated tallest building in northern China, Tianjin 117 Tower, will officially resume work on April 30th. This landmark building located in the High tech Industrial Park of Xiqing District, Tianjin, started construction in September 2008 and went through hardships. In September 2015, the main structure was topped out, with a height of 596.5 meters, making it the tallest building under construction in China and creating 12 world records.
However, due to issues such as the developer’s broken funding chain, the project came to a standstill and became the “highest abandoned building in China”, which was once regrettable. Now, with the approval of the new construction permit, the project has ushered in a turning point. According to the construction permit information, the construction period is from April 30, 2025 to April 30, 2027, with a contract price exceeding 568 million yuan, covering the remaining projects such as the 117 tower and commercial podium. In the future, the completed 117 Building will integrate functions such as super Grade A office, super five-star hotel, and sightseeing, and is expected to reshape Tianjin’s urban skyline, drive regional economic development, and once again become a shining business card for urban development.
